Following on from his successful debut single ‘Honest’ last month, 19-year-old one-to-watch artist and songwriter Tom King has today unveiled his new single ‘Hollow’ and announced the release of his debut EP ‘Confessions of a Lonely Heart’, out on 22nd October via ADA/Warner and ATC Management (Biig Piig, Lido, ALMA, Cuco).

‘Hollow’ is a deeply emotional piano-ballad, co-written with Ollie Green (Freya Ridings, Tom Grennan), that sees Tom bringing feelings of pain and rejection to the surface, as he reflects on a broken relationship. Tom’s honest and deeply powerful vocal delivery are accompanied only by piano – a minimal, refined approach for a song of raw emotion and teenage vulnerability.
Speaking about the track, Tom writes: ” Ollie and I wrote this song together from the ground-up – both of us bringing together lyrics and melody with Ollie on the piano. It’s about the sad part of a breakup and that feeling of utter emptiness you get after all the anger has gone. It’s a sad one… you might want a tissue.”
Tom is also readying for his debut EP ‘Confessions of a Lonely Heart’ out on 22nd October. He has already attracted the attention of some of the country’s leading writers and producers including the likes of Nick Hahn (Georgia Twinn), Edd Holloway (Lewis Capaldi, Dean Lewis) and George Moore (Clean Bandit, NAO) whose collaborations with Tom will appear on the EP.
Grabbing attention from a young age, Tom grew up in Guildford where he’d often put on shows for his family, whether they liked it or not. The performances usually involved ABBA, Lady Gaga, or the soundtrack to Fame – rollicking around the living room in his favourite princess dress. The freedom of these living room-based concerts soon ran parallel with a strict performance regime after Tom landed a place at the prestigious Guildford Cathedral Choir aged 7. In 2014, when he was just 13, he won BBC Radio 2’s Chorister of the Year Award, before leaving the choir when his voice started to break. As well as strengthening his vocal cords, the choir also taught him deep-rooted musicality – from learning how to sight read as well as mastering the violin, cello and then saxophone. While he seems new to this, singing and performing – be it as part of a choir, dressed up in his living room, or belting out songs on TikTok – has been his purpose for a lot longer.
Since emerging onto the scene last month with his debut single ‘Honest’, Tom King has already established himself as a force to be reckoned with – billed by Gay Times as “a voice to keep an ear on” and by Wonderland as “changing the face of Sad-Pop”. Tom may only be 19-years-old, but with his sky-scraping, soul-drenched voice paired with heart-bursting anthems to lost love, the Gen Z-er already looks set to be Britain’s next rising talent. Now with the release of his powerful new single ‘Hollow’ and his debut EP announcement today, Tom King shows no signs of slowing down.
