Iconic band CROWDED HOUSE have teamed up with fellow New Zealand rock band Unknown Mortal Orchestra to deliver a brand-new remix of their current single To The Island – listen HERE.
The To The Island Unknown Mortal Orchestra remix is accompanied by a psychedelic visualizer – view HERE – and is also set to appear on a forthcoming 7” vinyl, along with the previously released To The Island Tame Impala remix, via the band’s D2C store – pre-order HERE.
“Another artist we in Crowded House greatly admire is fellow NZer Ruban Neilson (Unknown Mortal Orchestra). Ruban was willing and able when asked to dismantle our single ‘To The Island.’ His remix has reimagined our song with swagger and grit and some glam overtones…we think it’s transformed in a beautiful way,” said Neil Finn.
On remixing the track, Ruban Nielson of UMO said: “It’s a really lovely song and there is this cool slightly menacing glam stomp to it, so I ended up drawing more and more of that out until I was playing it really loud and distorting everything and it was really fun to do a variant like that. I think it goes without saying that it’s an honour but I’d feel like I missed the opportunity if I didn’t add that too.”
The Unknown Mortal Orchestra remix follows Tame Impala’s spaced out reworking of To The Island which was released recently. Check it out HERE
The ‘To The Island’ remixes come a month after having completed a hugely successful tour of New Zealand. To The Island is the second single to be lifted from the band’s forthcoming seventh studio album, Dreamers Are Waiting, set for release on June 4 via EMI. Pre-order HERE.
Crowded House is Neil Finn, Nick Seymour, Mitchell Froom, Liam Finn and Elroy Finn.
