This morning, BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show, hosted by Mark Goodier, dropped an electrifying bombshell for Tina Turner fans: the never-before-heard track “Hot For You Baby.” Penned by Aussie songwriting legends George Young and Harry Vanda, and brought to life by producer John Carter, this gem was recorded at Capitol Studios in Hollywood. Originally slated as an album track, it was buried in the archives—until now. This rediscovery adds a bold new layer to the Private Dancer legacy, just in time for its 40th anniversary.

The single is a highlight of the Private Dancer (40th Anniversary Edition), launching today, March 21, 2025. This milestone release celebrates Turner’s GRAMMY®-winning 1984 masterpiece with a treasure trove of unreleased tracks, live cuts, and rare footage. Fans can snag it in multiple formats: a deluxe 5CD/Blu-ray set, a streamlined 2CD version, a 1LP Pearl vinyl, or a stunning 1LP picture disc.

The 5CD/Blu-ray edition steals the spotlight, featuring a remastered 55-minute Private Dancer Tour performance captured at Birmingham’s NEC across two iconic nights, March 23 and 24, 1985. Directed by David Mallet, the show boasts guest appearances from David Bowie and Bryan Adams, showcasing Turner at the peak of her powers. Painstakingly restored, this concert delivers a visceral front-row vibe, paired with five upgraded music videos—including “Private Dancer,” now in crisp HD from its original 35mm film.

Other options include a 2CD set, a 1LP picture disc blending the UK/EU and US album covers, and a limited-edition 1LP Pearl vinyl with a 12×12 art card of the US artwork. Music historian Jason Draper pens the liner notes for the 5CD/Blu-ray set, featuring fresh commentary from Paul Cox, Holly Knight, Arlene Phillips, and Martyn Ware.

When Private Dancer hit the scene in May 1984, it ignited an epic comeback for Tina Turner, cementing her as a global icon. Hailed by American Songwriter as “one of the most charismatic comebacks of modern rock” and by AllMusic as “Turner’s finest hour as a solo artist,” the 5x platinum album soared to #2 on the UK Albums Chart, #3 on the Billboard 200, and #1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. It also racked up four GRAMMY® wins, including Best Female Rock Vocal Performance for “Better Be Good To Me” and a triple crown—Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, Record of the Year, and Song of the Year—for the chart-topping “What’s Love Got To Do With It?”
