There Ain’t Nothing Like A Dame!

Dame Vera Lynn, Dame Shirley Bassey, Dame Helen Mirren & Olivia Coleman CBE release albums in the same week

It’s all about The Dames right now at Decca! Britain’s Greatest Dames will be going head to head for a battle of outstanding releases in the space of just one week!

Two of the UK’s most loved & respected actresses; Dame Helen Mirren & Olivia Coleman CBE, have narrated vocals on two diverse and contemporary albums. Dame Helen has joined forces with Fearne Cotton, recording the track ‘Lockdown Kittens Dancing’ for Fearne’s Happy Place album due for release on 30th October. (Listen to ‘Happy Place’ hereA quirky and poetic delight added to Fearne’s curated collection, created to inspire happiness, positive mental health and well-being.

The Kanneh Masons are one of the UK’s most remarkable orchestral families, rising stars of stage and screen, their talented bubble of sibling love is joyously infectious!  Their album ‘Carnival’ is due for release on Decca Records November 6th and features everyone’s favourite lady Olivia Coleman, narrating the story ‘Carnival Of The Animals’, written and co-narrated by Michael Morpurgo (Warhorse)  (Listen to ‘Carnival’ here)

Never to go unnoticed, the Welsh golden lady Dame Shirley Bassey, at 83 releases her grand finale album ‘I Owe It All To You’ on November 6th. (Listen to ‘I Owe It All To You’ here) Rising to fame over five decades ago when she recorded the soundtrack to ‘Goldfinger’ in 1964, a further two Bond movies followed featuring her powerful vocals. Now living in Monaco, Dame Shirley is known as one of the most glamourous Dames of our time.

And finally, also on the 6th November, Britain’s sweetheart Dame Vera Lynn releases her posthumous album featuring some of her last ever recordings. Dame Vera’s legacy of raising community spirits lives on as care home residents across the UK will pay tribute to her on Remembrance Sunday in association with www.smilingsessions.com to virtually sing along together whilst in isolation, her classic and pertinent ‘We’ll Meet Again’
