The Ninth Wave reveal the video for their new single ‘Imitation’ The band recently announced their biggest UK headline tour to date, taking place in November 2019. November 15th will also see the band release ‘Infancy Pt. II’, the second instalment of their debut album, on Distiller Records.
‘Imitation’ sees The Ninth Wave return with an electrifying jolt. Co-lead vocalists Haydn Park-Patterson and Millie Kidd carry the track with yet another hugely anthemic melody over a relentless riff, arresting every ounce of the listener’s attention from the off. Speaking about the track, Haydn says: “Imitation is what happens when I forget about my lonely disposition and get too caught up in everyone else’s lives. It’s about how easy it is to become something you hate and we hate simple songs, so we made this song really simple and straightforward. We recorded it in the summer of 2018 with Dan Austin and Phil Parsons. This song was the quickest one of all of the 12 songs we recorded to track, as we did the backbone of it live to capture the feeling we felt when we played it live in the months prior to the Infancy sessions.”
November’s album release and tour mark the apex of a sensational two years for The Ninth Wave. Their last single ‘This Broken Design’ is still in heavy rotation on BBC Radio 1 despite being released months ago. This year, the band has supported CHVRCHES at the huge SSE Hydro arena and Edinburgh Summer Sessions, and supportedSuede in Glasgow and The Blinders and YONAKA across the UK and Europe. They were chosen by the BBC as one of the highlights of SXSW and garnered further acclaim from the likes of The Guardian, Noisey and NME. With their best work yet to come with the release of ‘Infancy Pt. II’, The Ninth Wave’s future is impossibly bright.
