Cutting loose with fresh optimism and fizzing with new energy, The Lathums open their glammed up indie pop account for 2025 with the fizz bomb single, Heartbreaker – OUT NOW. Splitting from shackles of doubt and darkness and rising up to bask in the joys of rushing rock and roll, the pacy and punchy track is lifted from the band’s upcoming, third album, Matter Does Not Define, released on Fri 7 March 2025. Pre-save/pre-order here.
Communication remains key for frontman and lyricist, Alex Moore, as he strives, song-by-song, to express his own life-experiences, raise others up when they are low and ensure that no single second of his music goes wasted. By choosing Heartbreaker as the third song to be heard from the 13 fresh cuts lying in wait for fans on Matter Does Not Define, the band brings abandon to the fore and lays down the soundtrack to being yourself and just letting go.
Showing the stark contrasts in their craft, The Lathums left fans on tenterhooks as 2024 came to a close, feeling the intensity and tension of the band’s open-hearted, brooding masterpiece, Long Shadows. Cutting deep to Moore’s emotional bone, with a sense of painful introspection rarely heard on neither The Lathums’, nor any contemporary indie band’s songbook, the single arrived as a breathtakingly raw statement to follow the band’s rousing, previous single releases, No Direction and Stellar Cast.
Thousands more of The Lathums family will share in favourites from the band’s last two, No.1 albums, How Beautiful Life Can Be (2021) and From Nothing To A Little Bit More (2023) as their busy 2025 touring schedule gets underway at a SOLD OUT Glasgow’s Barrowland Ballroom on Thu 13 March 2025.
