Newcomer The Jordan makes an attention-grabbing introduction with today’s release of her debut single ‘You Don’t Even Know Me’ via Cooking Vinyl. The track comes as she prepares to release more new music in the coming months, which was made in collaboration with David Kosten. His credits include an Ivor Novello for his work with Bat For Lashes and Mercury Prize nominations for both Bat For Lashes and Everything Everything.
With ‘You Don’t Even Know Me’, The Jordan presents a beguiling calling card for her talents. Her remarkable vocal is the star of the show; a voice that so elegantly conveys issues of self-doubt and identity with power, poise and plaintive beauty. Her candid lyricism is further exposed by the song’s sparse production, which conjures a melancholy electro-ballad soundscape from subtle synth textures, minimalistic piano and elemental beats. Ultimately ‘You Don’t Even Know Me’ leaves the distinct impression that The Jordan is an artist who possesses both vast potential and a broad international appeal.
The Jordan says, “‘You Don’t Even Know Me’ talks about how the image people have of someone determines one’s identity, and how one can get trapped in that image, becoming completely dependent.: ‘You don’t even know me, but you run my mind.’”
The Jordan will play her debut headline show at London’s Tabernacle on September 13th before heading to Bitterzoet in Amsterdam on September 16th. London tickets are available HERE.
