The Awning, the ethereal folk duo comprising multi-instrumentalists and singer-songwriters Darragh Purcell and Evan Flaherty, have released their second single, “Empty Plateau,” on now on all DSP, just ahead of their performance at Ireland Music Week 2024, Oct 1st-4th.

Following the success of their debut single “July,” this new track continues to showcase their unique blend of lush production, traditional elements, and otherworldly harmonies reminiscent of Bon Iver and Fleet Foxes.

The duo had an impressive 2023, performing at high-profile events such as Whelan’s Ones to Watch, Indiependence Festival Cork, and Masters of Tradition in Bantry, where they appeared alongside long-time influence Sam Amidon.
