TAYO SOUND launches his debut single ‘COLD FEET’, available on all DSPs now via Black Butter/Arista Records – https://smarturl.it/
The track, a perfect slice of woozy pop, was produced by Courage (Ray BLK, Lava La Rue) and has visuals brought together by Bedroom (1975, Beabadoobee). The debut track delves into Tayo’s earliest romantic relationship and the finishing line he knew it had to have, even before it got there;
“The lyrics are about my first relationship and how I thought I had found this perfect person, but I wasn’t sure if the situation or timing was right as I was getting signals that her feelings weren’t as deep as mine. I felt happy because I’d found her but also terrified and anxious because I kinda knew it wouldn’t last.”
Growing up around church where he got his first introduction to music, his older brother’s ringtones were the first time he heard 3-minute pop songs, sparking an obsessive love for music that led him to busking the streets of Reading for 10 hours a day with his first set of songs from the age of 14. Working solo in his bedroom on old laptops and the microphone on his mobile he recorded two demos and sent them everywhere he could to get noticed. Subsequently he got support from tastemaker blog Hilly Dilly and caught the attention of labels both in the UK and US before singing with Black Butter and Arista.
Since then he’s had the opportunity to work with the likes of George Reid (of Aluna George), George Fitzgerald, Rob Milton (Easy Life) and The 23rd (Khalid, Grace Carter) as well as performing for BBC Introducing and alongside Lianne La Havas as part of an Annie Mac Presents night at the Moth Club in London. This groundwork is all pushing towards a body of work that will form his debut EP due later this year.
