Indie pop four-piece Blondes debut a new music video for their latest single Street Fight, which was released 26th August ahead of the band’s opening performance at Reading & Leeds Festival 2021.
The video was filmed across Liverpool, directed by videographer Joe Ribton. It follows frontman Will Potter, who is heavily encased in bubble wrap and “fragile” tape, as he navigates his way across the city and through a local shopping centre. The video concludes with the reveal that the rest of the band had helped tape the bubble-wrap to Will, his friends offering the protection he desired during his night out.
Blondes say: “The video was shot on a handy cam in Liverpool. The director, Joe Ribton, wanted to focus on the idea of emotional fragility drawing on the song’s narrative of fights and arguments taking place between lovers on a night out. We wanted to play with that idea a bit so we persuaded Will to wrap himself up in bubble wrap and wander round Liverpool city centre all night.”
Street Fight was recorded at Coastal Sound Studio, Liverpool and produced by Blondes and Tom Roach. The track is Blondes’ third release after signing to C3 Records, Austin, Texas, with the band’s debut EP ‘Out the Neighbourhood’ scheduled for release in November this year, featuring 2020’s debut single Coming of Age, which became a viral sensation on TikTok and has reached over 11M streams.
Blondes are set to play live at this weekend’s Dot to Dot Festival in Bristol and Nottingham (25-26 September), Liverpool Sound City on Saturday 2nd October, Live At Leeds on Saturday 16th October, before a return to Nottingham to support Sports Team at Rock City on Wednesday 17th November.
The band are also delighted to announce they are headlining their first show in London on Tuesday 30th November at The Grace, Islington, and are set to support Red Rum Club at their Cardiff show at Clwb lfor Bach on Saturday 9th October, and their Birmingham date at the 02 Institute3 on Monday 18th October.
