Dutch DJ, producer and label head Steve Void returns today with his infectious new single ‘Without You’, featuring rising LA-based singer-songwriter AUSTN, out now on Strange Fruits (via Virgin EMI).
Void’s latest offering follows a remarkable run of releases this summer, having dropped tropical smash ‘Ain’t Got You’, featuring platinum-selling Louisa as well as monstrous remixes for Lewis Capaldi and Ava Max. Alongside these new releases, Void has also seen fan favourite ‘Closure’ (20 million + combined streams) tipped by BBC Radio 1’s Dance Anthems show over the course of the summer.
‘Without You’ Boasts a sonic landscape of finely tuned, sharp production and carefully crafted melodies, brought to life by AUSTN’s meteoric vocal range.
Touching upon the themes of the single, Void said “The song is an anthem for outcasts, innovators and experimenters everywhere who can’t live without someone or something they care about. AUSTN added to it his own experiences and it became something special. I can’t wait for people to hear it!”
Void’s talents and ambitions started from a young age. At 10 years old he got his first piece of production software, and by 14 he’d thrown himself into dance music, having picked up a job in the coat room of a local nightclub. From there, he went onto study at the Herman Brood Academie, a notorious music production school in Utrecht, known for recently producing Martin Garrix. It wasn’t long before his career trajectory started to ascend rapidly, notably remixing The Weekend’s “I Can’t Feel My Face”(nearly 10 million streams to date).
Festival slots followed but Void wanted to harness the momentum he had built into something else. He didn’t want to be just another DJ sucked into the circuit. He took a step back and forged a plan to move forward as an artist that was unique and in no way replaceable. Strange Fruits was born. Eye Wateringly productive, the label – who’ve recently celebrated their 160th release (270 million collective streams) was set-up to be an artist-friendly platform to spread the word of emerging dance and pop acts.
With a sky-high vocal range and show stopping delivery, Oregon born and raised, Los Angeles-based singer and songwriter AUSTN immediately turns heads. Within two years, impromptu D.I.Y. performances generated the newcomer millions of views and interactions on the 16-year-old’s Instagram.
