Already setting the tone for a big career, rising artist Luke Royalty has released the video for his sun-drenched new single, ‘Stay Gold’. The track, which featured as Jack Saunders’ Radio 1 ‘Future Artists Next Wave Pick’, is Luke’s second in 2021, following the release of his raw and honest BBC Introducing Track Of The Week, ‘I Do’, at the top of the year,
Produced alongside Neverbloom and long-time collaborator Bob Mackenzie at Motor Museum studios in Liverpool, ‘Stay Gold’ sees Luke set the scene for the summer with the tracks laid back vibe and luscious tones.
The video, directed by childhood friends Louis Zimmer and Eddy Harper, echoes the feel-good summer vibes of the track. “It was great to be able to show off the Darlington countryside and push the summer feel of the tune while continuing to work with my mates,” Luke said of the video.
Hailing from Darlington in the North East of England, Luke came from a creative family of artists and musicians. He, however, avoided dabbling in music until his late teens, preferring to spend his time playing Sunday League football and following his beloved Darlington FC. Upon finding influence in the likes of Mike Skinner, Mac Miller and Frank Ocean, Luke got drawn into the culture of turning his words to music and the rest is history in the making.
Having already garnered support from key players including BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music, BBC Introducing, Clash Magazine, The Independent and Amazing Radio (‘I Could Get Used To This’ ft. Sweets was added straight to the B list), Luke looks set to be one of the breakout acts of 2021.
