Rising Norwegian pop star SKAAR has released her dynamic new single ‘Something Like This’ today, stream here.
Co-written with Mathias Wang (Aurora, Sigrid) and Bjarte De Presno in 2021, ‘Something Like This’ is a feel good synth pop number, and testament to SKAAR’s ability to translate emotional topics into euphoric pop hits. This track in particular details her first visit to a psychiatrist, “Suddenly I could understand myself,” she says, “it was truly a revelation, a surreal feeling of the world opening up and everything that previously had felt like a fog, was now so vividly clear and right in front of me.”
‘Something Like This’ follows ‘Get Him Away From Me’ and ‘Out of My Hands’ released earlier this year, all taken from SKAAR’s forthcoming album due for release in 2023. “The process of making this new album has been incredibly demanding on me. The emotional highs and lows have been very volatile, and I have now spent three years thinking about what I want this album to be. I’ve experienced some incredibly difficult things, and as a consequence my mental health has been fragile…but I really love the songs I’ve written, and the therapeutic effect that writing these songs has had on me cannot be underestimated. I’m very much looking forward to releasing this album – it feels like having to let go of an era in my life in order to move on to the next phase.”
With more than 50 million all-time streams on Spotify and multiple Spellemannprisen (Norwegian Grammys) nominations, SKAAR is a multi-platinum selling artist who is connecting with fans across the world with her pop songs that brim with spirit and vulnerability, including support from tastemakers like The Line of Best Fit, Wonderland and 1883. This month she will be supporting Sigrid on selected dates in the UK and Ireland.
