The albums span ten years (1965 – 1975) and tell the story of the first and much celebrated period of Jones’s career – one that is now into its sixth decade, filled with hits including ‘What’s New Pussycat’, ‘I’ll Never Fall In Love Again’, ‘She’s A Lady’ and many, many more
Born and raised in Pontypridd in South Wales, Sir Tom left school at age 15 and released his first single ‘Chills and Fever’ with Decca Records in 1964 when he was 24. Although his debut did not chart, his follow-up, ‘It’s Not Unusual’, became an international, life changing hit.
The following year was the most prominent of Jones’s career, making him one of the most popular vocalists of the ‘British Invasion’. In early 1965, ‘It’s Not Unusual’ reached No.1 in the UK and the top 10 in the United States. During 1965, Sir Tom secured a number of film themes, including the theme songs for the film ‘What’s New Pussycat?’ and for the James Bond film ‘Thunderball’. Jones was also awarded the Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 1966.
Sir Tom Jones has sold over 100 million records worldwide and has had over 35 UK Top 40 hits, and nearly 20 hits in the USA, and in many other countries. Jones never sells a song short – to have such a long lasting and illustrious career takes a very special kind of talent. With over 200 tracks and 10+ hours of Tom Jones’ timeless music in one box, fans young and old are in for a real treat!
