With their upcoming single Hide Away the German indie-rock band Silent Attic takes the step into a new era of the band and tries to create a new, modern rock sound to put the human desire to classify music in genres to a test. Following the single Turn Him Over, the song is meant to give a first taste of what Silent Attic will sound like on their new EP Escape, which will be released on 2nd October 2020.
‘We’ve grown as a band. It’s been over a year since we released our debut album Late Night Talks in March 2019 and a lot has happened since then. Not only did we work on our musical style, but also on us as a band and our approach towards songwriting. With Hide Away, we wanted to do something new. We tried to create that new sound by combining our influences of modern rock bands like Catfish and The Bottlemen, Giant Rooks or Arctic Monkeys with own, garage-sounding touch. ́
Hide-Away’s emotive and powerful sound paired with personal lyrics reflects this development of the band perfectly. With his rough and memorable voice, the band’s lead singer Eros Atomus delivers a touching story of a young man’s desire to escape the monotonous everyday life and just run away to see the world and what it has to offer. The musician’s struggle of not fitting in into the typical ‘nine-to-five life’ and the greyness of growing up in a small town like Flensburg are not only the main motive in the band’s current single ‘Hide Away’, but also on their following EP Escape.
