LaBrie’s upcoming album, Building is also now available for digital pre-save HERE and physical pre-order HERE.
Written alongside Tia Sillers (Lee Ann Womack, The Dixie Chicks, Trisha Yearwood), the two talented wordsmiths created a song with an optimistic view when looking for a light at the end of the tunnel. “Above every storm is a cloudless sky waiting for you and me,” LaBrie sings as she is supported by a choir of soulful singers echoing her ambitious call. “The sun is always shining down on us, we just can’t see it sometimes,” Shannon says of the track, ”no matter where we are in life, the earth is always turning, and the sun will come again.”
Written in 2019, each song on the forthcoming album holds significant importance and relevance, now more than ever. Building offers a journey to self-discovery and reflection with songs about finding strength in pain and perseverance. LaBrie reminds listeners that life is an ever-changing tide that continues to build with each experience acting as a building block to the next, “I can’t think of a better word to describe this thing we call ‘life’ than the word ‘building’,” she says of the title track. LaBrie wrote or co-wrote each song on the album, aside from her rendition of Tom Petty’s “Good To Be King.” The album is produced by multi-Grammy Award-winners, Brent Maher and Charles Yingling, and was recorded at Nashville’s The Blueroom Studios.
Her music is filled with emotionally-charged lyrics that give a voice to the love and loss in which LaBrie has experienced throughout her life. The talented lyricist’s songs have been recorded by a diverse lineup of artists including Gabe Dixon, Lillie & Madaline, and the European DJ, Boogie Pimps. A notable cut of LaBrie’s includes a co-write with Robert Randolph that resulted in “She Got Soul,” a song off his Grammy-nominated album, Got Soul. Shannon’s music has been featured in many television shows, including Jane By Design, Army Wives, and The Client List, amongst others.
