YONAKA have just released their highly-anticipated Seize The Power mixtape. This incredibly honest body of work explores themes such empowerment, hopefulness and acceptance. Spanning 8 tracks produced entirely by the band, it includes previous singles Raise Your Glass, Call Me A Saint, Ordinary, title track Seize The Power plus special collaborations with Jason Butler of FEVER 333, and Barns Courtney. Pre-order for the vinyl via Blood Records, which has been given a special blue and white ‘corona’ pressing, sold out in just 90 minutes! YONAKA played a special live stream show last night at Brighton’s Glitch. The Seize The Power mixtape is available to stream/download here.
Theresa has said of the mixtape, “Seize The Power is a collection of songs to empower you. We all possess the power within but through life we are always put down by others, told to be quiet and not express ourselves; this makes us less confident and we lose ourselves. I wanted to take back control and yes, I’m not in control all the time but when I’m there I’m untouchable. This is a wake up call. Anyone can be anything they put their mind to. Be who you want! Everything up until now has lead to this moment so take the moment and make it yours and enjoy it.”
The four-piece have today announced a special collaboration and exclusive show, with Signature Brewery. YONAKA have brewed their own beer which will be available to buy on tap for one night only, at their live show at Signature Brewery’s taproom in Haggerston on Friday 23rd July. Tickets are on sale now, here.
Previous singles Call Me A Saint, Ordinary and Seize The Power have garnered a whopping 7 million+ overall audio streams, and the Seize The Power video alone has over half a million views on YouTube. All three empowering tracks have received tremendous radio support, including on BBC Radio 1, the Rock Show (where the band were Getting To Know You guests last month), the Indie Show and more.
YONAKA took to the stage at the highly-anticipated sold out Download Pilot event recently, where they joined the likes of While She Sleeps and Enter Shikari. The Brighton-based rockers will be returning to play the mighty Reading & Leeds Festival, this August. YONAKA are also set to play 110 Above Festival the same month, Sonic Wave in December and are joining Catfish And The Bottlemen at Singleton Park in Swansea, in September. YONAKA have cut their teeth on the live scene over the last couple of years, supporting the likes of international heavyweights Bring Me The Horizon, FEVER 333 and playing festivals such Bestival, Download and Isle Of Wight. The band have recently played live streamed shows on both Scruff Of The Neck’s Twitch, and also for Amazon Music.
