Led by swathes of infectious melodies and guitar lines, ‘Closer’ is a firm live favourite amongst fans and drops today, marking the band’s 100th show, at Castlefield Bowl in Manchester tonight, supporting The Kooks as part of Sounds Of The City.
Speaking of the track, guitarist Rory Young says; “The song came together in a backwards fashion in a hotel after our debut European gig in Barcelona. It was originally written as an electronic track about being far away. Replacing the synths with guitars back in London gave the track an absolute new lease of life”
Following a whirlwind start to the year, which saw them being named as the only band on the BBC’s Sound of 2019 list and playing their biggest ever sold out live show at London’s Heaven, the band also signed a record deal with Polydor Records (Billie Eilish, Sam Fender, The 1975).
With three EPs and a plethora of tracks under their belts, including the BBC Radio 1-playlisted ‘Damage Done’, as well as a recent live session for Annie Mac (listen here), the band continue their busy summer of festivals across the UK and mainland Europe.
