Santino Le Saint collaboration with Latin Urban star Mariah for new remix.
The alluring mystery of “Who is Maria?” continues as independent Brixton-based artist Santino Le Saint today joins with Latin urban star Mariah for a new remix of his track ‘Maria Don’t Call Me’. The release marks Santino’s first collaboration and sees two worlds collide as the Reggaeton princess is met by Santino’s signature moonlit R&B.
Cult-favourite ‘Maria Don’t Call Me’, which has surpassed 3 million streams on Spotify, details an emotional fallout after a one night stand. Now, the track has gained a whole new perspective with the addition of critically acclaimed Mariah. Mariah, who has more than 3 million monthly listeners on Spotify and is the only new Latin artist to receive a platinum award from the RIAA, offers a combination of her fierce lyrics and her perfectly blended sound of Pop and R&B which mingles effortlessly with Santino’s sultry melancholy.
“Mariah reached out on Instagram early last year saying she loved my music. We discussed how crazy it would be for her to do a remix of ‘Maria Don’t Call Me’ but she lives in Miami so we never got the chance. The track has always been about receiving a booty call when on a night out, so it was funny when, nearly a year after Mariah and I spoke about making the remix, I looked down at my phone and saw a missed call from her and a message saying “I’m in London, call me back”. Turns out that she’d ended up getting stuck in London for one night because of a delayed connecting flight from Amsterdam back to Miami. We met up at the Cloud X studio in Brixton later that evening and we drank, partied and made the remix in about 5 hours.” Santino Le Saint
Hailing from Miami, the 19-year-old Cuban-Boricua artist Mariah first set the world alight with her surprise 2019 viral hit, ‘Perreito’. The song went platinum, and by the end of the year, Mariah had signed with Universal Music Latin. Reaching viral fame on the charts of 18 countries, Mariah was recently named by Forbes as one of the top 5 Latinx Artists to Watch in 2020.
‘Maria Don’t Call Me’ appears on Santino’s debut mixtape Rage Of Angels released earlier this year. Produced and written by Santino himself; Rage of Angels is confident and genre-bending, the 10-track collection drawing influence from artists such as Lana Del Rey and Frank Ocean. Featuring cinematic cuts ‘Unholy’, ‘Bullet With My Name On It’ and ‘Call You When I Get Home’; the passionate project sees Santino meld his love for hip hop and reverb-heavy guitar riffs.
As the son of legendary hip-hop producer Charlie Parker (57 Dynasty), 21-year-old Santino grew up around music, learning piano and guitar from age 8. Santino’s overcast and cinematic productions are often accompanied by his signature electric guitar solos. Just 3 years into his musical career, Santino has grown an impassioned following with his fans travelling from across the globe to witness his enigmatic live shows.
