Having just dropped his summer banger ‘Innocent’ featuring Kate Stewart, North London’s sure-fire one-to-watch Ryan Ashley returns today with new single ‘Guess My Friends Were Right’ released on Platoon Records.
The playful new single is the latest offering from Ashley’s forthcoming EP ‘Innocent’, out in August. Fans will have time to soak up the infectious body of work just before Ryan takes the stage for his first-ever headline show at The Curtain Hotel October 24th.
Having produced and written the new track alongside Adam Rust (Years & Years, Ella Eyre) and longtime friend and collaborator MNEK, Ryan said “ A friend of mine was going through a breakup with someone we all knew was trash, so I put myself in her shoes and wrote this song from her perspective. An honest, joyful, ex-bashing moment.”
At 23 years old, Ryan has been professionally writing songs from the tender age of 15. Very quickly, his songwriting prowess became apparent, and garnered well-deserved attention across the board, now boasting songwriting credits for the likes of MNEK, M.O., Shift K3y, Crazy Cousins, Becky Hill & H.E.R – with the latter earning him his first Grammy Award earlier this year.
With a sound that’s instantly engaging and familiar, yet fresh, Ashley is crafting his very own space in today’s musical landscape – ‘Guess My Friends Were Right’ is set to take his music and mass appeal to the next level.
