Pa Sheehy, the former frontman of Walking On Cars, releases his new single “My Old Friend John” today. This heartfelt track delves deep into Sheehy’s world, telling a heartbreaking story that feels “like a mini movie.”

Sheehy explains, “I had to give the song five verses to make sure the full story was told”. Written and recorded in a whirlwind 36 hours, the process involved no sleep, lots of coffee, numerous balled-up papers, and a few ashtrays. The song touches on themes of love, friendship, sobriety, despair, and helplessness in its simplest form.

In addition to the single release, Pa Sheehy is thrilled to announce his debut album, ‘Maybe It Was All For This,’ set for release on October 4th. Fans can pre-order the album starting July 19th from his website, www.pasheehy.com.

On top of this he is also announcing a European tour in 2024. Tickets go on sale July 26th via pasheehy.com.

About the album, Sheehy shares, “The record wasn’t meant to be a concept album, but every song has an attachment to the town of Dingle. Either growing up there, wanting to leave it, what it’s like now, and the people in it. I mindfully wanted to make something completely expressive and I think this gave us the freedom to do anything. From super projected vocal deliveries to whispers, plucked acoustic guitar playing to distortion pedals. I’ve fallen in love with so many artists over the last few years that I don’t know what genre this fits into, but maybe not knowing is what led us to the magic we found along the way”.

Fresh off a sold-out European tour and having supported Bruce Springsteen at Hyde Park last summer, the Dingle-based wordsmith is ready to embark on a new journey. With his collaboration with Dutch label V2 Records (Kaiser Chiefs, Hazlett, Alice Merton), Sheehy describes this release as the “start of an exciting new era” that elevates his songwriting and storytelling abilities to new heights.
