‘Foot Down’ is a song about being the master of one’s own destiny. Not letting anyone tell you that you can’t do something and putting your foot on the gas pedal and speeding towards your dream. The bold lyrics and big rock-pop chorus highlight the power and passion in OZ’s vocals as she sings with conviction.
“I think I’ve always been one of those people who reacts to the word No. when someone says “no you aren’t good enough” or “no you can’t”, explains OZ. “I immediately make it my mission to prove them wrong. Foot Down is about lighting that fire in yourself and going after what you want no matter what anyone says. I’ve had an interesting journey in my musical life and I’m in a place now where I feel ready for anything and foot down is my musical expression of that feeling”.

Recorded by OZ alongside Biff Stannard (Ellie Goulding, Kylie, Spice Girls) and Ash Howes (Annie Lennox, Will Young), her forthcoming debut EP ‘Jupiter’ is set to be released on Truth Records on 30th October, it’s an attitude-rich assertion of empowerment, truth and self-discovery that spans the darker extremes of modern alt-pop, throwback alt-rock and dynamic electronica.
Lost and found is a concept underpinning two of Jupiter’s standout songs, opening track ‘Money’ and ‘Murder’. The rest of Jupiter is similarly uncensored, all-out Oz. The EP’s title track (“a call out to the bad bitches”) sees OZ pay tribute to one of her best friends, an ex-stripper whose no-shits-given approach to life has been incredibly inspiring. And closing the EP is ‘Never Gonna Fade’, where OZ makes the point that “the memories worth having are the ones that’ll stay forever”.
Oz’s strong identity is born from an equally fascinating backstory. She was raised in Soho, then a wilder mix of the seedy and the bohemian rather than the post-gentrified blandness we see today. Her family ran a pizzeria favoured by those in the know: the actors, gangsters, drag queens and sex workers who gave the area its own unique identity. Just like them, Oz soon had a story to tell. Her early demos resulted in her working with established writers and producers when she was just 15-years-old. She established herself as an in-demand songwriter before she forged her signature style during sessions with Biff Stannard (Ellie Goulding, Kylie, Spice Girls). Oz is like that best friend who makes nights out a riotously blur of chaos and carnage, but also one who can make everything right the following morning.
