Manchester based group NXTGEN release latest single Sucka 4 Love, out now, via eOne. Listen here. Sucka 4 Love is produced by their Grammy Award-winning mentor and Black Eyed Peas frontman will.i.am. The track follows a year of fantastic singles including Embrace, Rewind and I Don’t Know How To Dance. The track features in today’s Spotify New Music Friday playlist.
The band have said of the track “This was one of our more hip hop inspired songs, we listened to Tupac’s song “Do for love”, and he takes you through a story where he really likes this girl but there are too many complications and he doesn’t seem to trust her but yet he can’t stop, hence the lyric “I’m a sucker for love”, and there’s been times where we have all related to this, so we thought it would be a cool idea to write a song about our own situations.”
Accompanying the song is a brilliant video, shot primarily in the moody, atmospheric Californian hills in the unusually overcast outskirts of LA. The video will premiere at 7pm tonight.
“Shooting the video was so cool. We drove for about an hour or so outside LA to the desert. We had a big cube that lit up and had smoke pouring out of it right in the middle of nowhere. It was one of the most fun videos we have done so far. Although it was scary at times – we were all convinced we could hear rattlesnakes! We wanted to shoot in the desert because we all thought it would give off a cool vibe – almost “movie like”. It was the first time we shot with drones too! They captured the amazing landscape around us and we loved how it came across on screen!”
