Norwegian duo producers Seeb have teamed up with Grammy-nominated trio Goodboys and global pop star HRVY on new anthem ‘Unfamiliar’, out now via Positiva.

The infectious new single marks the first of several Seeb releases scheduled for 2020.

You may know Seeb through their game-changing remix of Mike Posner’s ‘I Took A Pill In Ibiza’ (currently the 39th most-streamed song of the last decade) or their work with the likes of Coldplay, Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, 5 Seconds Of Summer, Bastille, Tove Lo, One Republic and Dagny.

With over 70 gold/platinum certifications globally, It’s safe to say that the producer duo have enjoyed massive success since first entering the music scene in 2015, and now they’re ready to proceed with new and genre-defying music.

In November 2019, Seeb invited more than 25 artists, songwriters and producers to join them for songwriting sessions in their studio complex in Oslo. With a group of musicians specializing in everything from hip-hop, stadium anthems and power ballads, the studios were overflowing with creativity. One of the songs that came out of those intense days/sessions etc… was ‘Unfamiliar’, written by Seeb, Josh of Goodboys, David Björk and Lenno.

Goodboys come hot off the back of their global hit collaborations, ‘Piece Of Your Heart’ which saw a Grammy nomination, and also ‘Lose Control’ which is enjoying a similar trajectory gaining the up and coming duo over 2 billion cumulative streams and multiple platinum, gold and diamond certifications worldwide respectively, not bad for a fledging act unknown at the start of 2019.

Finishing the trio of huge names on the single, the track features vocals from BBC Radio 1 Brit List artist and Global pop star, HRVY, who with over a billion combined streams plus global platinum, gold and silver certified records adds another level to the track.

About the song coming to life, Seeb explains:

“‘Unfamiliar’ with Goodboys & HRVY is the first single to come off Seeb’s forthcoming album and is the result of a dark and rainy studio meeting in Oslo in november 2019. Way before the Covid crisis happened and when the world was looking different. We met up with Goodboys, which were hitting it off globally with their vocals and melodies on the Meduza singles, to write some new music. Unfamiliar popped out almost by itself in the matter of a few hours as a result of this session consisting of Goodboys, Lenno, David Bjørk and us. Then later we teamed up with HRVY to nail the final vocals and have his touch to the melodies and do the main vocal part as we had been trying to find a way to do something together.”

Josh from Goodboys also shares his memories of the making of the song:

“’Unfamiliar’ was one of those songs that just came together so easily. I (Josh) flew to Norway to get in the studio with the guys and within about 3 hours, we basically had made the song you’re hearing today. Sometimes you just get that vibe and the magic is made. Hearing HRVY on the track really took it to the next level and we’re super excited for the record to finally be released!” Josh Grimmett

On his involvement on the track, HRVY adds: “I’m really happy to be a part of this with Seeb and Goodboys, from first hearing the track and working with everyone it’s been exciting seeing it all come together and I’m looking forward to getting it out there”- HRVY

Seeb has scored billions of streams across all platforms to the point where statistically, “every other person in the world has heard one of our songs,” explains Seeb’s Simen Eriksrud. All of that noise and mass communication was just chapter one though. Now, they’re taking their signature blend of melancholy and euphoria, dance music with a human sensibility, to the next level and down a more considered and artful path. ‘Unfamiliar’ is the first song to kick off this new chapter, and it’s one to be excited about.
