Nigel Wearne has had a huge 2023… he’s travelled far and wide, kicking off the year with a co-bill tour in the UK with award-winning songstress Lauren Housley (UK). Then saw Official Showcases at UK Americana Music Week and Folk Alliance International, followed by a return visit to the UK for the Cambridge Folk Festival. He also toured the US three times, where he played a bunch of festivals including AmericanaFest, Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion, MerleFest, Mile of Music Festival and Old Settler’s Music Festival.
Singer-songwriter, luthier, poet and gleaner, Nigel Wearne saunters after dark in the music of the night. Hailing from Gunditjmara country in the deep south of Australia, he’s a guitarist and multi-instrumentalist with diverse influences such as Nick Cave, Tom Waits and Rickie Lee Jones. Blending blues, jazz and Americana-noir, he sings of human frailty, grace and the cosmos. A deep thinker and truth speaker with a penchant for all things peculiar; songwriting that cuts to the bone. His sophomore album, Black Crow garnered wide critical acclaim including a 4-STAR review in Rolling Stone, a nomination for Best Country Album at the Music Victoria Awards and debuted at #1 on Australia’s AMRAP Charts.
To celebrate the release of his new album, Nigel Wearne (AUS) returns to the UK this winter for what promises to be a captivating solo tour. He also performs an Official Showcase at Your Roots Are Showing in Ireland.
