Nicola Høie has had quite the year so far and is now back with her brilliant new track, Skydiving. The rising Norwegian star released her debut song and follow up over the Summer and returns on November 11th with Skydiving, out on Northern Powerhouse Records. Listen here and watch the lyric video here. The track has also been added to Spotify’s New Music Friday in her native Norway.
Nicola knew as soon as she heard Skydiving, co-written by Fiona Bevan (Ed Sheeran, One Direction, Kylie) and originally recorded and co-written by Canadian star Lights, that she had to cover it and put her own spin on it. Nicola adds: “Skydiving is so catchy and fun, I knew instantly I wanted to record it! The original is so great, but I wanted to change things up a little with my version. To me, Skydiving is about falling in love and about a person making you feel the strongest of emotions. I first recorded this song earlier in the year and as it’s one of my favourites, I have been so impatient waiting for its release!”
Nicola’s debut track Secrets got off to a flying start and was included in several playlists across the globe on both Apple Music and Spotify, including Best TikTok Viral Songs 2022 and Beats Of Tomorrow. She also released a Secrets club remix by UK DJ Kelvin Wood (listen here) – the perfect soundtrack for a sunny, Summer’s day. Secrets kickstarted a series of releases of pop bangers and future hits from the soon to be superstar. The follow up, Never Buy My Love was also picked up on a variety of playlists including Spotify’s Fresh Finds and the highly regarded New Music Friday: Popjustice edit.
Hailing from Norway and residing in Denmark, the young rising talent is undoubtedly going to be the name on everyone’s lips in a year’s time. The soon-to-be pop superstar is inspired by her Scandinavian roots as well as looking to the UK and USA for a variety of influences. Nicola Høie has spent the last 2 years honing her craft, working on her debut album between Stockholm, Berlin and Liverpool.
