New Music Friday is here again
DONSKOY – MIDDLE MAN
A big year is rapidly heating up for the multifaceted musician and actor DONSKOY. His recent single ‘SIPPIN’ made waves internationally, with a spread of high profile airplay and press support. Now DONSKOY unveils his follow-up track ‘MIDDLEMAN’ alongside the announcement of his lead role in the major new Disney+ show ‘Vienna Game’ coming 2025. Listen HERE.
‘MIDDLEMAN’ is a speaker-shaking explosion of nostalgic late 2000s R&B vibes, pulsating, bass-heavy hip-hop beats and the kind of soaring pop hooks that can unlock a tide of fresh discovery across radio and playlists. DONSKOY’s beguiling charisma gives the track an added star quality, his soulful delivery bringing the track’s dark, devilish imagery to life. Between‘MIDDLEMAN’ and ‘SIPPIN’, DONSKOY’s music is now perfectly positioned to rise to new heights and connect with fresh audiences.
DONSKOY says, “Middleman is a song that, on the surface, might seem like a very easy-listening piece of pop music. For me, it has a way deeper meaning. In times when society gets divided further and further in terms of political stances, cultural views, and general misconceptions of what it means to be in the right at all times, it increasingly feels like I’m caught in the middle. I am in the middle of opposing views, in the middle of arguments and in the middle of being blamed or praised for something that isn’t actually my doing. And there are days when I want nothing more than to be the middleman. Neither here nor there. Not the hero nor the antagonist. Someone who is walking his path through life, searching for meaning and joy like anyone else. And maybe through that can bring people a little closer then further apart. And that’s why, in September 2024, I am nothing more than a middleman. But I hope the song will make people dance and the second time they listen to it… also think for a second”.
TORS – NEVER GIVE UP
Tors get their next project underway as they share their brand new music ‘Never Give Up’. Their new music follows this year’s ‘Miracle’ EP. Listen HERE
If you’ve followed Tors before this point, you’ll instantly hear some of their indelible sonic hallmarks in ‘Never Give Up’ – the soaring, tight-knit vocal harmonies that has attracted millions of views with their a capella performances on socials, and their rousing, defy-the-odds and rise against your challenges themes that give their lyrics a life-affirming wonder. But now the bouncy, jangly energy that fuels their live shows infiltrates their sound, as if Tors have embarked upon an American road trip and now sound more dynamic and electrifying than ever.
Tors commented, “‘Never Give Up’ is a song inspired by our dad who’s always encouraged us to follow our dreams and turn our art into a living. Our resilience and ability to take every knock, tumble and obstacle in our stride are because of him. In the song we’ve tried to chronicle our journey so far through music and life in general alongside reaching out to anyone else struggling through their days but refusing to give in. It’s one of our most upbeat releases to date in terms of both lyrical and musical content and it’s our personal message of hope and solidarity to everyone fighting for their passions.”
WILD RIVERS – BETTER NOW
Just three months after the release of their acclaimed album, Never Better, Platinum-selling trio Wild Rivers—Khalid Yassein, Devan Glover and Andrew Oliver—will return with a new companion album, Better Now, October 18 via Nettwerk Music Group (pre-order/pre-save here). Ahead of the release, new track, “What Kind of Song,” is out now. The new song comes ahead of their run of live dates in the UK & Ireland which kicks off on the 14th November in Glasgow and includes London at O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire on the 19th November.
Of the song, the band shares, “The idea of the song is this meta question: ‘when you sing this song in a few years, is it going to be a love song or a breakup song? Will you be missing them and the relationship you once had, or missing them when you’re still together but they aren’t home from work yet?’ There’s two ways that it goes that are completely different.”
In celebration of the new music, Wild Rivers will perform on “CBS Saturday Morning” tomorrow, September 7 as part of their “Saturday Sessions” series and will continue to tour throughout the autumn with their international headline tour. Full details can be found at www.wildriversmusic.com/tour.
CHILD OF THE PARISH – SWEET SURRENDER
The Child of the Parish story starts in Glastonbury, when brothers Ben and Tom Vella vowed to start a kaleidoscopic new project which united euphoric disco, hazy psychedelia and live band energy to create a life-affirming melting pot of sounds. After releasing two EPs which flamed fascination in the project at media (Radio 1 support from Jack Saunders and Sian Eleri, airplay at BBC Introducing and 6 Music, plus abundant acclaim), the Child of the Parish journey today arrives at its first landmark moment with the release of their debut album ‘Sweet Surrender’. LISTEN HERE
‘Sweet Surrender’ is a soundtrack that will help people dance their way out of the dark. It’s an album that poses those existential questions that come to mind at 3am on a long, sleepless night: time, memory, love, relationships and regrets. But the music channels those thoughts into an escapist, joyous explosion of influences such as M83, Daft Punk, Empire of the Sun, Patrick Cowley and New Order melding glitchy, electronic sounds with more organic elements of indie, disco and funk. In short: Child of the Parish alchemise bliss from anxious overthinking.
ALISON MOYET – LOVE RESURRECTION
Having topped Amazon’s vinyl pre-order sales, completed a Piano Room session for Radio 2, and recharted her life story with a Classic Pop cover and a feature in The Times, anticipation for the October 4th release of Alison Moyet’s ‘Key’ album (pre-order here) is at a high. Now Alison pushes that momentum forward as she shares the new ‘Key’ version of one of her biggest solo hits, ‘Love Resurrection’.
The new ‘Key’ version of ‘Love Resurrection’ streamlines the ‘80s produced original with a punchy, live energy driven by Alison’s distinctive and powerful vocals. Evolved through decades of performance and compromising none of its initial spark, the song resonates keenly today with lyrics as relevant as they ever were.
Alison says, “‘Love Resurrection’ is indeed a key track being the first record I released as a solo artist, then with no expectation of how it would land. The ‘Key’ album version is the one we take to the stage and has become a set highlight, a shared moment of determined and exuberant connection. It feels more pertinent now than it ever did.”
