As England’s Euro 2020 campaign rolls into the knock-out stages, Woody & Kleiny x The Hoosiers continue to soundtrack the celebrations with their anthemic ‘Route 66’. After hitting #1 on the iTunes, Amazon and UK Download Chart, the single is given a fresh boost as the hitmaker and two-time MOBO Award winner Naughty Boy drops his ‘La La La’ remix.
Naughty Boy brings a bombastic bass and beats bounce to the track, giving it a completely different feel to the knees-up singalong of the original version. Woody & Kleiny still feature prominently, with their cheeky mash-up of terrace chant infectiousness and their celebration of all things unmistakably English.
Having guested in the track’s video, Naughty Boy jumped on board for the remix alongside co-producers Blazin Beats (Beyoncé, Jess Glynne) and the acclaimed solo artist J. Rick (best known for his ESSIE GANG and Octavian collab ‘
“It was an honour to be asked by the boys to get involved with ‘Route 66’,” says Naughty Boy. “I loved the original as soon as they played it to me and especially with the winning spirit of the nation it feels like an anthem for England! The Hoosiers and Woody & Kleiny made a banger, and for me to put a little naughty spin on it with this official remix is very naughty. Can’t wait to hear this drop in the clubs, beaches, summer festivals and get everyone dancing again!”
Naughty Boy was also eager to support the charity CALM, the Campaign Against Living Miserably, which is leading a movement against suicide, and benefits from both versions of ‘Route 66’. Every week 125 people in the UK take their own lives, and 75% of all UK suicides are male. CALM exists to change this. The charity provides a confidential helpline and webchat service for anyone who needs to talk about life’s problems; spreads their message throughout communities to enable people to get the help they need before they reach the point of crisis; and encourage positive behavioural change, using cultural touch points like art, music, sport and comedy.
