Singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Luke Hemmings shares his latest single, “Motion,” from his forthcoming debut solo album When Facing The Things We Turn Away From, out 13th August via Sony Music. Listen to “Motion” here!

“Motion” is a light funk-come-psych rock adjacent affair, in contrast to the rousing introduction of his solo debut single, “Starting Line.” Kicking off with a rolling guitar riff, “Motion” is layered with oscillating synths, phasers, and a towering wall of sound vocals. Metaphoric of his own drop into the unknown, Luke shares, “This song is about having a sense of distrust with the way you perceive your own thoughts and the way the world moves around you. It was written about a time when I felt like the voices in my head weren’t my own and my sense of reality felt blurred.”

“Motion” follows the release of his single “Starting Line,”  which Luke released last month and was met with a sea of support globally, receiving widespread acclaim and support from Billboard, NYLON, NME, triple j, and many more. The single already boasts over 6 million streams globally and 1 million views on the official music video just a week after its release.

Luke is best known as the lead singer of 5 Seconds Of Summer and has co-written some of the band’s biggest hits including “Youngblood,” “Teeth,” “Want You Back” and “Lie To Me.”
