Brothers Mark and Rob Brandon – aka MODEL MAN – today release the DJ Seinfeld remix of their latest single ‘WHY?’ via Mahogany Recordings. The acclaimed Swedish DJ and producer has achieved a complete reimagining of the original track, forgoing its euphoric piano lines for a deeper, rolling groove – listen to the remix HERE. ‘Why?’ was named Pete Tong’s Essential New Tune on BBC Radio 1 on release and is taken from Model Man’s upcoming EP ‘Don’t Cry’, out August 14th and available now for pre-order HERE. ‘Why?’ follows the January release of the duo’s ‘Beta Songs’ EP, a six-track collection of refracted, sparkling electronic music, as well as a selection of remixes for the likes of MJ Cole, Alan Fitzpatrick, Willaris K and Prospa. To support ‘Beta Songs’ the band debuted their live show with a full 4-piece band performance at Hackney warehouse space Studio 9294, which merged live electronics and virtuoso piano elements with reactive, algorithmically controlled visuals. The band also performed for the BBC’s Introducing Stage at The Radio 1 Big Weekend, with Mark appearing solo for a live set centred around his upright piano.
Model Man broke through with last year’s ‘City Songs’ EP and standout singles ‘Ketones’ and ‘Beta’, both accompanied by stunning videos directed by Rob, who along with directing videos for the likes of Crystal Fighters and Gold Panda, handles all visual output for the band.
