MILLIE MANDERS AND THE SHUTUP have announced a new single, BITTER, and accompanying video. The single is the third to be taken from their debut album TELLING TRUTHS, BREAKING TIES due to be released on 23 October. You can watch the video for BITTER below:
To coincide with the release of BITTER, a limited-edition vest and T Shirt are now available from the band’s official website with £5 from each sale being donated to The Survivors Trust, an umbrella charity for survivors of rape and sexual abuse: https://millie-manders.com/
The two singles previously released from the album, SILENT SCREAMS and YOUR STORY, were also accompanied by limited-edition merchandise, with donations from each sale going respectively to the mental health charities Mind and Papyrus, and to NHS Charities Together.
“I would like to make it clear that this song is not about my experience with rape and sexual abuse but I am a survivor,” explains Millie about BITTER. “The song is about abandonment, callousness, cowardice and maltreatment, and the bitterness that arises in the wake of it. As a band, we want to support charities throughout the cycle of this album, so the charity we choose for each run of limited-edition merchandise does not necessarily correlate directly with the content of the song, but they are charities that we feel connected to personally.”
BITTER is available to purchase now from iTunes, Google Play, Amazon and all usual platforms:
MILLIE MANDERS AND THE SHUTUP create cross-genre punk that’s increasingly hard to ignore. With lyrics that discuss loss, betrayal, anger, anxiety, heartbreak, bitterness, environmental catastrophe and political unrest, they inspire the questioning of social norms. Fronted by Millie’s staggering vocal dexterity and backed by grinding guitars, irresistible horns and a huge amount of pop appeal, their live shows are renowned for their power and contagious energy.
