Maya Lane ended 2023 on a high as she completed her first ever tour as guest to Far From Saints, a new band featuring Kelly Jones of Stereophonics and the Austin Americana duo The Wind and The Wave. Not only did she win over audiences in the biggest venues she has played to date (2-3000 capacity theatres and concert halls), but she also dueted with the band’s Dwight Baker to introduce a brand new song that they had written together. Eager to build upon that positive experience, Maya now powers into 2024 as she shares the new single ‘Bump Into Me’. Listen HERE.
‘Bump Into Me’ sets the tone for the year ahead as Maya infuses brighter pop and raw live band sonic elements into the tapestry of her bohemian singer-songwriter sound. Layered into ornate vocal harmonies, her stylish, chic vocal tone is the star of the show in a song which explores the inner conflicts that arise when self-confidence and self-doubt are both competing for dominance.
Maya says, “‘Bump Into Me’ was written in the first writing session I ever had with Rich Cooper and Jonny Latimer. I went in with the first line ‘me and my ego are falling out’ and the idea of wanting to run away from yourself. I am a huge over-thinker and can often get trapped in my thoughts. ‘Bump Into Me’ explores the crazy possibilities you dream about doing when you want to escape from life but also the realisation that no matter where you go, you will always take yourself with you.”
Still just 20-years-old, Maya Lane has been patiently developing her career since debuting early on 2022 with the track ‘Still The Same’. Yet her story dates back to her childhood when she vowed to become a musician after being astounded by seeing Taylor Swift’s ‘Red’ tour. It wasn’t long before she was getting in touch with every local venue, open mic night and festival to find any opportunity to play her songs in public, and she went on to share folk-pop covers of her favourite songs via social media.
