Multi-talented creative Maya Delilah releases her highly anticipated debut EP, Oh Boy, alongside brand new single ‘Breathe Easy’. Both out today, listen here.
Oh Boy is the perfect introduction to Maya’s world – a soul and RnB inspired record with a few pop twists, making for an emotional but upbeat summer soundtrack.
“Recording this EP has been one big process of finding my sound”, Maya explains. “Learning how I best write lyrics and coming up with cool ways to incorporate my guitar playing as a main feature in my music.”
The debut EP from Maya Delilah has been a long time coming, from working in the studio with producer Stephen Barnes (Loic Nottet, Thomas Headon, Jenna Raine) for months, to the release of her first single ‘Tangerine Dream’ in January this year. Tracks ‘Gato’ and ‘U R U’ followed, with her most recent single, the soulful ‘I’m Just Stupid’, released in May. With a combined 860K streams, fans couldn’t get enough of each new song Maya delivered.
On the inspiration behind the record, Maya says: “The EP goes through a sort of timeline of a relationship: starting to fall for someone, second guessing the whole thing, thinking you are being played, throwing your doubts aside and figuring out what you like about that person, then feeling at ease when everything is FINALLY ‘perfect’. And there’s also a song about my cat…!”
Also on the EP is Maya’s new single ‘Breathe Easy’; a chilled number with beautiful smooth vocals, effortless bright melodies and enchanting guitar solos. Its’ laid-back vibe mirrors the song’s message, about feeling relaxed in a relationship and being able to relish those feelings.
Maya adds, “’Breathe Easy’ was written about getting to that stage in a relationship where everything feels perfect and wonderful and shiny. You’ve gone through people doubting the relationship, yourself doubting the relationship but WHAM BAM it’s all amazing now, and you can just ‘breathe easy’ and enjoy it.”
