Following a huge reaction to the first single from upcoming EP New Ink, with over 200k views for the ‘Born To Ride’ official video in the first few weeks and support across numerous worldwide streaming playlists and radio stations, Manny Blu has today shared another brand new track, ‘Old Money’, following an exclusive first play from Baylen Leonard on Country Hits Radio yesterday (20/8). Listen here: https://sym.ffm.to/oldmoney_mannyblu.

The song, co-written by fellow rising star Brandon Lay, with Neil Medley (Luke Bryan, Brent Cobb, Lindsay Ell) and New Ink producer Aaron Eshuis (Scotty McCreery, A Thousand Horses), perfectly suits Blu’s distinctive, gravelly voice, building on his rock-inspired sound through a storming, anthemic hook. The acoustic-led verses show he’s unafraid to embrace an early influence from blues artists like B.B. King and John Mayer, before Kristen Rogers joins him in the final chorus to drive the track home with their unique blend of vocals.

“‘Old Money’ is a song about true love and wanting it to last for a very long time,” said Manny, who approaches music with the same fighting spirit that set him on his original path as an MMA fighter. “The imagery in which the song is written with, is beautiful yet it had the new sound I’ve been looking for, for this EP. I couldn’t be happier with the way the song came out.”

Raised as a versatile athlete playing hockey, soccer, and American football before kick-starting his MMA training at sixteen years old, a leg injury left him unable to compete in professional matches, and he found himself at home in Montreal recovering from a torn quadricep, and used the time to re-discover his passion for music, eventually finding an appreciation for the easygoing swagger and relatable storytelling of modern country, playing hits on an acoustic guitar for groups of friends. “I learned there’s a culture and a vibe to country music that’s like nothing else,” he said.
