Maisy Kay is establishing herself as a fascinating new voice. Her ethereal pop is tinged with nostalgic dance influences, resulting in comparisons to Lana Del Rey and Sabrina Carpenter, while her love of incorporating fantasy and alternate universes in her lyrics provides her with something unique from the pack. It has created a first wave of attention, with 40 million streams for ‘The Storm’, a collab with TheFatRat, and she has also worked with the likes of Timbaland, Tiësto, R3HAB and Rodney “Darkchild” Jenkins.
Now Maisy Kay is set to embark upon a UK tour next week as special guest to Jamie Miller. Intriguingly the Los Angeles-based artist has only previously played two shows on these shores, despite being born and raised in England.
Maisy Kay says, “I’m beyond thrilled to be joining Jamie Miller along with Alex Sampson on the ‘long way home world tour’ for the UK and Europe. I can’t wait to perform in the UK again and perform some tracks from my latest EP – it’s good to be back!”
Her growing artistry is best represented by last year’s two-part EP ‘Wonderlust’. Split between ‘Dawn’ and ‘Dusk’ chapters and featuring tracks including ‘Technicolor Honeymoon’ and ‘Cosmically Intertwined’, the project saw Maisy Kay exalt the euphoric powers of love on a set of dark-hued, moody and effortlessly chic pop.
‘Wonderlust’ added to Maisy Kay’s penchant for engagingly off-kilter musical adventures. Her other early creative ideas have included using the Na’vi language (the fictional dialect from ‘Avatar’) in her single ‘The Beast Within’ and performing Japanese lyrics on J-Pop star Anly’s Spotify Viral #1 ‘Distance’.
Maisy Kay’s vision extends to designing her artwork and merch herself. Her outside interests are similarly esoteric to her music, including archery, aerial silk and looking after a mini-menagerie of pets (a bearded dragon, a cat and frogs).
Having previously toured with Tori Kelly and JVKE, Maisy Kay will play the following UK and Ireland shows with Jamie Miller before the tour heads into Europe.
