Filmed at the ICC in Newport, Wales, this TV Special is a moment not to be missed as we see Luke, for the first time, hosting a show that combines his musical talents with his charismatic charm as he chats and sings with a star studded line up of guests; Nicole Scherzinger, LeAnn Rimes, Olly Murs and Beverley Knight. What a line up! But only to be expected from a worldwide talent such as Luke. Watch a fun teaser from the lineup filmed ahead of the show HERE.
This ‘Evening With’ really brings some magical moments to life. The electric energy on stage, the camaraderie between Luke and the guests, the festive psazz, and some moments that pull on the heartstrings.
LeAnn Rimes sings “How Do I Live’ with Luke – the first time she has ever duetted this legendary track, as well as giving us a world exclusive performance in front of an audience of her new single “Spaceship”. Olly and Luke take on a Tom Jones’ classic with a special rendition of “It’s Not Unusual” as well as Olly singing his new single. A specially arranged version of “Tale as Old as Time” – the signature song from Beauty and the Beast is performed as another duet, this time between Luke and the wonderful Nicole Scherzinger, while Hollywood actor Josh Gad, who starred in the film version of the Disney classic with Luke, pops up for a little chat. To top that off, the incredible mighty soul legend Beverley Knight gives us a spine tingling rendition of Prince’s ‘I Wanna Be Your Lover’ as well an incredible duet with Luke on ‘I Want To Know What Love Is’.
Of course, we also get to hear Luke Evans singing some truly powerful performances of songs from his new album A Song For You, including a stirring version of the Welsh classic “Calon Lân” alongside the Treorchy Male Voice choir in a special setting.
‘It was truly an incredible honour for me to host my very own BBC Showtime Special! It’s surreal to think this is the kind of programme I’ve grown up watching and just wished one day that it would be me up there,” Luke said. “As I walked into the studio and saw the set up before we started filming I had to pinch myself and take a moment to absorb it all. I got quite emotional as it was a humbling realisation knowing this was all for me, for my show. The staging, the crew, the lights, the audience and my name across the screen. To top it off what a lineup of guests l had joining me. No pressure to sing with the likes of Beverley Knight, LeAnn Rimes, Nicole Sherzinger and Olly Murs!!! The energy on stage was electric and I can’t wait for everyone to see it!’
