Lucy Spraggan today releases Empire, the next track from her forthcoming album Balance. Listen to Empire here. Pre-order Balance here.
The beautiful piano ballad sees Lucy reflect upon her experiences as a touring musician and the journey of building connections with her fans. The heartfelt and deep lyrics are accompanied by a beautiful arrangement of strings. Speaking about the track, Lucy says:“When I started working as a songwriter with Simon Cowell, I really wanted to show him the range in which I can write. I wanted to write something uplifting and inspiring but something that builds a story too. I knew Simon is a huge fan of The Greatest Showman, so I used that as my reference for the sound. Lyrically, it documents my journey as a musician touring different places through the years. Sometimes to a great crowd and sometimes, well… not!”
In recent months, Lucy Spraggan has been putting the finishing touches to not only her new album, Balance, out 11th August, but also her memoir, Process, out via Bonnier Books on 20th July. Both the 14-track album (tracklisting below) and the book see her reflecting on her life till now. As well as the book and her new music, Lucy recently embarked on her headline sold out UK tour through May. She has also previously released the brilliant tracks Everything Changes to mark 10 years since her X Factor audition, the beautiful Balance, stunning single Bodies and also the honest track OCD. Feeling stronger, positive, and more empowered than ever, Lucy is ready to do everything on her terms and take 2023 by storm.
Talking about the forthcoming album and book, Lucy comments: “I’ve been working very hard over the last 18 months on my album and I’ve been working for nearly two and a half years on my book and I’m thrilled that both things I have created are going to be released into the world! I’m full of anticipation and excitement and at points nervous about the release but I can’t wait. Summer 2023 is going to be a big one!”
