Today sees 18-year-old newcomer Lola Young share the video for ‘Blind Love’, a track taken from her first body of work Intro, released via Island Records. Intro is available from all DSPs here: https://LolaYoung.lnk.to/Intro
Directed by The Rest (Slowthai, Kojey Radical, Joy Crookes), the video is an authentic reflection of Lola in all her vulnerability. Recalling a past relationship, seemingly ordinary yet intimate moments are told through time spent in her car. Through its stripped-back vocals, lilting keys and emotive string passages, ‘Blind Love’ is a deeply personal track that sees Lola contrast her maturity with youthful naivety; an intimate and cathartic story about the complications of young love.
‘Blind Love’ follows on from her debut single ‘6 Feet Under’, released last month, which was applauded by the likes of The Guardian, The Sunday Times, British GQ and more. The track also garnered early radio support from Annie Mac, Benji B, Giles Peterson, Mistajam and DJ Target and has already had massive backing from Spotify and Apple Music.
Drawing on a unique gift for writing songs that encapsulate and explore the human condition; Lola Young is able to delve into her feelings and turn extremely personal emotions into something every listener can relate to. It’s potential like this that makes the South London artist an extremely exciting new talent that’s set for huge things.
