Rising star LOLA YOUNG today releases the brand new video for track ‘SAME BED’, taken from her debut EP Renaissance. You can watch the video below. The track is also available now via all DSPs here.
‘Same Bed’ transports listeners back to the 90s with an R&B slow jam that is mellow, deep and smooth as silk. Lola uncovers her candid thoughts of love and lust with a brand new visual that was shot at her home during lockdown and directed by Tash Tung (Meduza, Gazelle Twin). The cinematic video focuses around the bed in her apartment and quickly transitions between sultry set ups that mirror Lola’s introspective thoughts:
“‘Same Bed’ is a song about waking up next to different people, to put it bluntly. It’s a lust song. But it’s also a self reflective song that looks at how I feel within myself and the different struggles I face when it comes to love and lust. It also shows how dismantled and strange my mind can be when it’s flicking between a hundred thoughts a second.”
The Renaissance EP follows on from the success of Lola’s debut body of work Intro, released last November, which marked the moment Lola became one of the most exciting new up-and-coming names in the UK and garnered her widespread critical support across the board. Early tracks such as ‘6 Feet Under’ and ‘Blind Love’ picked up huge radio support from the likes of Annie Mac, Benji B, Giles Peterson, Jo Wiley, Mistajam and DJ Target while simultaneously securing Lola’s position on the 2020 ones to watch lists for the likes of Dummy, Evening Standard, The i, The Sun and CLASH. Most recently, Lola has seen support from British Vogue, SUPER Magazine as well as Teeth Magazine and Dork. Listen to Intro here: https://LolaYoung.lnk.to/Intro
