Kenyan-Norwegian and multidimensional artist Lil Halima releases ‘Booty’ – an infectious, feel-good and summer-infused track created with Swedish producer Canto – via Universal Music / Def Jam Recordings Norway and Island Records UK.
Lil Halima also reveals a video diary taken over the summer, set to ‘Booty’ and created by Lil Halima herself. The low key, black and white video is made up of a montage of home videos taken by Lil Halima, her band and friends.
‘Booty’ is Lil Halima’s first release following her dual conceptual EP releases ‘for the dark days’ and ‘for the bright days’ which explored two sides of living above the Polar Circle in northern Norway where she hails from. ‘for the dark days’ featured singles ‘Take Me To Your Planet’, a playful love song with a danceable bassline, as well as ‘Hold Me’, a track the Line of Best Fit said, ‘floats along elegantly with its spacious piano arrangement and subtle beats, as Halima’s hypnotic and endearing melodies soar effortlessly above’. Lil Halima released ‘for the bright days’ in May 2019 including the lead single ‘who do u love’.
2019 has been an exciting year for Lil Halima: two EP releases, a headline slot at Norway’s By:Larm festival and a European tour announced, including one date at London’s Courtyard Theatre on 23rd September. Her debut EP ‘love songs for bad lovers’ last year received a nomination for the Nordic Music Prize Award, while she herself received a nomination for the Norwegian Grammy Award for ‘Best Urban Act’. The seven track EP, all centred around the experiences of falling in love for the first time, featured singles ‘Train’ and ‘Jasmine’.
‘Booty’ by Lil Halima is out now with more anticipated music from the rising artist set to follow in the near future.
