Legendary Grammy Award-winning funk and soul band Kool & The Gang have today announced a very special UK headline show at Liverpool M&S Bank Arena on Friday 16th July. Joining them as special guests will be Liverpool’s soul legends, The Real Thing.
Celebrating their 60th anniversary this year, Kool & The Gang have performed continuously longer than any R&B group in history and their bulletproof funk and jazzy arrangements have also made them the most sampled R&B band of all time. The heavily-in-demand band has continued to tour the world, appearing most recently alongside Kid Rock, Dave Matthews Band, Elton John, The Roots, and a 50-city tour with the legendary rock band, Van Halen.
Thanks to iconic songs like “Celebration”, “Get Down On It”, “Cherish”, “Jungle Boogie”, “Summer Madness”, and “Open Sesame”, they’ve earned two Grammy Awards, seven American Music Awards, a BET Soul Train Lifetime Achievement Award, star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, 25 Top Ten R&B hits, 9 Top Ten Pop hits and 31 gold and platinum albums.
With six decades of hits, the internationally celebrated group released their critically acclaimed 34th studio album ‘People Just Wanna Have Fun’ last year. The 15-track project, which is helmed by founding members bassist Robert “Kool” Bell and keyboardist-drummer George “Funky” Brown, follows the release of their single, “Let’s Party” featuring Sha Sha Jones. Today, they enjoy global fame and recognition and a following that spans generations due in part to the groups widely sampled catalogue.
Following their Rock the World tour last year, Kool & The Gang are excited to be heading back to the UK this summer. Renowned for their electric live performances, be part of a night of music history and get ready for a huge celebration of all their timeless hits and classic tracks for one night only at Liverpool M&S Bank Arena on 26th July!
Tickets go on general sale Friday 19th April at 9:30am and will be available from www.mandsbankarena.com / www.gigsandtours.com / www.ticketmaster.co.uk
