“King Charles has always been a force of nature, especially during his passionate and energetic live performances. But if 2012’s debut album ‘LoveBlood’ was the shimmering blue skies of a long summer day and 2016’s follow-up‘Gamble for a Rose’ its lush and sultry evening, then 2019 sees a stormy night ahead, full of impending thunder and electricity as KC begins to spin some darker, sleeker fables of lost loves and lost minds.” – Die Booth

As of February 2019, King Charles will be dropping a new track every month for six months on his indie label Buffalo Gang Records; teaming back up with LA powerhouse producer, Matthew Wilder (Miley Cyrus, No Doubt, Christina Aguilera).

He says of the first of the new singles, ‘Freak’: “It’s never felt so good to get a track off my chest and out into the world. It’s about being a freak and being comfortable with that, this one’s for all the Freaks out there…..”

‘Freak’ is a beautifully structured, gritty noir affair of lush, layered vocals over stripped-back funk guitar. With effortlessly catchy lyrics that are darker and more introspective than any of his previous offerings, this is a defiant and heartfelt survivor’s shout.

Second single ‘Out of My Mind’ continues King Charles’ musical reinvention. A smouldering slow-burner of a song with a chugging, insistent rhythm lacerated by beautifully jagged guitar harmonics, there’s something irresistibly unsettling about this intense and atmospheric track with its mesmerising vocal.

Never shy of hard work, Charles and his band have taken to the road tirelessly, ruling the summer festival circuit and staging epic tours such as 2013’s ‘30 Shows in 30 Days’ and 2015’s ‘28 Shows in 28 Days’. 2019 sees him back on stage for the ‘King of the Road’ tour, with new material that promises another striking and strong departure from earlier form.
