Singer, songwriter, and actor Joshua Bassett returns with the nostalgic new single, ‘THE GOLDEN YEARS’. Listen HERE. The track serves as the lead single from his upcoming debut album ‘The Golden Years’, arriving July 26th.
“Encapsulating the bitter-sweet nostalgia of my late teens and early twenties, my debut album is a love-letter to “the golden years” of my life thus far,” Bassett shares. “This body of work spans the hope and heartbreak of my transition into adulthood. It’s a genre-bending journal entry from the bottom of my heart.”
‘THE GOLDEN YEARS’ is the first new track from Bassett this year, following 2023’s hopeful single “Just Love.” Last year also saw him sell out venues across the globe on his spring headline run, as well as the release of season 4 of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, in which he reprised the character Ricky. In 2022, he released the deeply personal Sad Songs In A Hotel Room EP as well as his equally intimate, 4-track EP Different.
ABOUT JOSHUA BASSETT:
Joshua Bassett may sing, write, act, and play multiple instruments, but he humbly identifies himself as “just a kid from San Diego who loves music.” Long before starring in a Disney+ original series, generating millions of streams, and garnering widespread acclaim, he grew up surrounded by music in Oceanside, CA. He played drums in church, taught himself ukulele, guitar, and piano, and wrote his first song for his homecoming date at 15. In addition to being homeschooled alongside his five sisters, he strengthened his voice in local theater productions.
Bassett landed the lead role of Ricky in High School Musical: The Musical: The Series in 2019 and soon thereafter signed with Warner Records, unveiling his solo debut ‘Common Sense’ in 2020. That laid the foundation for his blockbuster 2021, which brought his self-titled debut EP, viral hit ‘Feel Something,’ and ‘Crisis / Secret / Set Me Free’ — a trio of emotional tracks that raised money for mental health organizations including a donation of $20K from Bassett himself. His winning ways continued in 2022 with the release of his two EPs Sad Songs In A Hotel Room and Different. In 2023, he released the hopeful single ‘Just Love’ after returning from his sold-out global headline tour. Now, Bassett is gearing up for the release of his debut album, The Golden Years.
