After a decade of extraordinary success, Jess Glynne is back.
GRAMMY award-winning singer-songwriter Jess Glynne announces her intimate new single Enough, released today alongside details of a powerful music video – premiering via YouTube (here) at 12.00PM (GMT) today. In addition, Jess has announced details of her long-awaited third studio album JESS, set for release on 26th April via EMI Records.
With her most personal work to date, this new collection of music adds to Jess’ repertoire of over ten billion global streams and gracefully follows her success of becoming the only British female solo artist to score seven number ones on the UK Singles Chart – with global hits I’ll Be There, Hold My Hand, Don’t Be So Hard on Yourself and more.
Written in LA and produced with Adele hitmaker Greg Kurstin, Enough is an optimistic track detailing Jess’ relationship with self-worth and acceptance, summarised in the chorus with her distinctive vocals declaring ‘I’m more than enough’. Topped by Greg’s slick pop production, Enough perfectly cements a new era of intimate storytelling for the superstar, who has broken history over time with her chart-topping hits.
Speaking about the single, Jess says:
“Enough is the first song that I knew was 100% going on the album. I wrote it in 2020 when I was going through a lot in my life. Everyone had been through it that year, and I was heavily hit by a feeling of insecurity and lack of self-worth. I was going through a lot of changes personally and professionally and my confidence had been really set back. As soon as we started writing, I was reminded in that moment, by the people in the room, that I am good enough and I am so proud of how far I have come. I’ve paid my dues, I’ve grafted and I’m not going back to ever letting anyone make me feel like I’m not good enough ever again. I hope others manage to feel hope and gain the same strength from it that I do – we are all Enough and there’s no going back to feeling otherwise. It was then that I knew in my gut by the way this song made me feel, this had to be the first single from my new album.”
‘Enough’ is paired with an emotionally-charged, empowering music video directed by Olivia Rose (Jorja Smith ‘Blue Lights’, Anne-Marie ft. Shania Twain ‘Unhealthy’). Combining a renaissance art-like purity with elements of darkness, this music video is Jess Glynne like you’ve never seen her before. While running through the streets of London, Jess lays it all on the table in this raw performance as she heads towards a new era of being open, honest and authentically herself.
Speaking about the album, Jess says:
“If I was to summarise this album, firstly I would say that this album is unapologetically me, which is why I had to call it Jess. It’s about moving on and allowing myself to be secure, empowered, sexy, vulnerable and strong. I’ve allowed myself to be raw and honest with my lyrics.
It’s realising why I love and got into music. Listening to artists like Amy Winehouse, Joni Mitchell, Lauryn Hill, and Prince have inspired me to be the truest version of myself, and reminded me why I was inspired to write, to sing, to feel.
I’ve been given so much freedom musically, artistically and creatively. No one has set any boundaries on me and it’s allowed me to be free and make Jess be the album I truly want it to be.”
