BRIT Award-winning multi-platinum singer, songwriter, producer, and guitarist James Bay today announces a special one-off show at London’s legendary Royal Albert Hall on April 23rd, 2023. The announcement follows James’ second sold out headline UK tour this year which includes a sold-out Brixton Academy show this Friday 2nd December.
James says, “London’s Royal Albert Hall. I cannot believe it. I grew up obsessing over so many live shows recorded at this iconic venue. Since I was a kid even the venue itself has been an inspiration to me. From theatre, to artists, to full orchestra performances, I’ve had so many of my favourite live experiences under that legendary roof. And now I get to play my own show there. I cannot believe it.”
It’s been an incredibly busy year for Bay, back in late January he embarked on a highly successful run of dates across the UK’s grassroots venues in celebration of Independent Venue Week, which gave fans the unique experience of seeing him perform alone with his guitar in an intimate setting. Then in April, Bay sold-out venues across the UK performing with a full band for the first time in three years which received rave reviews including Gigwise who proclaimed, “If anyone ever doubted James Bay’s rockstar status, this would be the show to prove them wrong.”
In July, Bay released his third top 5 UK charting record, Leap which includes the multi-million streaming singles, Give Me The Reason, One Life and The FINNEAS produced track, Save Your Love. Leap is an open-hearted and hopeful collection of songs dedicated to the people closest to him, and finds Bay taking bold creative risks, pushing emotional boundaries, and embracing the unknown. Clash Magazine awarded the album 8/10 and said, ‘Leap is a warm hug to those hankering to see the silver lining amidst the storms of life’, whilst NME declared, ‘Bay has never sounded so sure of himself’ scoring the record 4/5. For Leap, Bay worked with some of the most sought-after producers and songwriters in a mixture of in person and remote sessions in Nashville & London including Dave Cobb [Brandi Carlisle, Chris Stapleton, Lady Gaga], Ian Fitchuk [Kacey Musgraves, Brett Eldredge], Foy Vance [Ed Sheeran], Joel Little [Lorde, Taylor Swift] & Finneas [Billie Eilish, The Knocks].
