Ahead of his UK tour in May, the Fun Lovin’ Criminals’ founding member, frontman, guitarist and songwriter Huey Morgan has announced he will release his debut solo album in early 2026.
The as yet untitled album will be preceded by the release of a new single in September, with Morgan backed by his brand new band, who he unveiled last summer ahead of his long-awaited return to live music, which ended a hiatus that began in 2021 when Morgan decided to leave Fun Lovin’ Criminals, the eclectic American Rap/Rock outfit he founded in New York in 1993, with whom he released six albums between 1996 and 2010 and sold over 10 million records worldwide.
Morgan said, “This album, alloyed with my memoir, marks a renaissance for me personally. My return to music was a long road of redemption and reflection; believing in the power of music to connect with others made it a positive milestone in my life. My debut album, albeit late, will endeavour to convey these stories, weaved into soundscapes produced to frame them thoughtfully.”
His new band features original Fun Lovin’ Criminals member Mateo DiFontaine on keys, turntables and lap steel guitar, Morgan’s oldest friend and bandmate from his side-project The Tangiers Blues Band known only as ‘King’ on bass, Ben González on drums, and multi-instrumentalist Adrian Gautrey on keys and guitar, who was repeatedly recommended to Morgan as someone who has a working knowledge of funk, soul, rock, punk and hip-hop, and wasn’t in jail.
Morgan’s 21-date UK tour, billed as Huey Morgan: The Fun Lovin’ Criminal, will start in Eastleigh on 6th May and end in Southend on 31st May, and includes dates along the way in London (10th), Edinburgh (15th) and Swansea (24th).
Tickets for all dates are on-sale now, available from the venues and via www.hueymorgan.com
