Harriet has a love of revisiting the grand melodies and storytelling songs of timeless ‘70s pop and is connecting with an ever-growing audience, resulting in a consistent array of sold-out shows and millions of views across her socials. Having recently announced the October 4th release of her new album ‘Trying To Get The Feeling Again’, Harriet shares its latest track, ‘Rainbow Connection’. Listen HERE.

‘Rainbow Connection’ first became popular when it was featured in ‘The Muppet Movie’. Its writers Paul Williams and Kenneth Ascher crafted a song to be performed by Kermit The Frog that also possessed the tender beauty of ‘When You Wish Upon A Star’ or ‘Somewhere Over The Rainbow’, but they sourced a heartfelt universal human emotion that gave the song a much broader appeal. Harriet’s elegant performance feels more like The Carpenters’ version, and it inspired Paul Williams to express his admiration and to state, “You have a remarkable gift.”

And Paul Williams certainly isn’t the only one to feel that way. Harriet’s teasers of the song have received 4.5 million views and almost 200,000 likes, with many praising her voice and comparing her to the legendary and much-loved Karen Carpenter. It’s also touching to see how she has inspired so many people to share their own stories of their personal memories of what the song means to them.

Harriet says, “Rainbow Connection is a song that resonates with me a lot as an artist. Pursuing a career in music requires a lot of resilience and this song is all about believing in yourself, and having the courage to follow your passion, whatever is thrown at you along the way. For me, it’s also about wishing to seek a deeper connection with people and the world, so we are able to understand ourselves and each other better. It’s a beautiful message! We wanted my version to have an ethereal quality, whilst letting the lyric and melody shine above all else. I hope it uplifts and transports people.”

Several of the songs that feature on ‘Trying To Get The Feeling Again’ have made a similar impact, with ‘Yesterday Once More’ and ‘Sailing’ also receiving tidal waves of love. As well as Paul Williams, other Carpenters collaborators have expressed their admiration for Harriet such as John Bettis and David Pomeranz, while Queen legend Brian May is also a fan.

Collectively, the ‘Trying To Get The Feeling Again’ album is like a time capsule that allows fans to rediscover some of their favourite music from the past, while hearing it performed by an artist at the peak of her vocal ability. However, by supplementing these classics with select originals and reaching younger audiences via TikTok, it shows that nostalgia isn’t limited to those who lived through it.

‘Trying To Get The Feeling Again’ is available to pre-order HERE, with signed CDs, art cards and new t-shirt designs all available.
