Amazon Music launches an exclusive merchandise range to celebrate 40 years of George Michael’s all-time classic hit record, “Careless Whisper”. The collection of unique designs will each feature the line ”Tonight the music seems so loud“, taken from the songs iconic lyric, on t-shirts and hoodies, available here.

A very special edition vinyl of “Careless Whisper” featuring a never before heard live version of the song, recorded at Madison Square Garden in New York, will also be available from 18th October, but pre order is live now.

Originally released in 1984, “Careless Whisper” topped the charts in 25 countries and has since been certified Platinum the world over. Marking George Michael’s debut as a solo artist, the song features one of the most recognisable saxophone riffs of all time, which came to George on a bus ride during his school years. Today the song’s enduring appeal continues to captivate listeners and influence new generations worldwide.

In 2022, in close collaboration with GME, George Michael Entertainment, Amazon Music released Amazon Original remixes of tracks taken from his “Older” album. These remixes feature the original vocals of the iconic star, reimagined by contemporary dance and electronic producers such as LF SYSTEM, Emily Nash, Kiimi, and ABSOLUTE.

Available exclusively to Amazon Music listeners, the four remixes celebrated George Michael’s musical legacy and introduced his work to a new generation of fans. Scottish dance music duo LF SYSTEM, known for their record-breaking hit “Afraid to Feel,” remixed “Fastlove,” which originally topped the charts in six countries. Ministry of Sound producer and DJ Emily Nash reworked “The Strangest Thing,” while producer, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist Kiimi took on “Spinning the Wheel.” East London producer ABSOLUTE. delivered a fresh take on “Star People ’97.” The “Older Remixes” are also available on an exclusive edition vinyl, available to buy here.
