Today sees rising star Frankie Beetlestone release new single ‘My House’. Listen here. It is the second track to be shared from the charismatic singer songwriter’s new EP ‘Ignorance Is Bliss’ which will be released on August 16th. Featuring five tracks, it crackles with the energy and excitement of an artist about to make his big breakthrough.
The racing 2 Tone-tinged pop of ‘My House’ sees Frankie Beetlestone take a kaleidoscopic trip through this own mind. “My House is the paranoid rant of an over-thinker,” he explains. “Constantly on his guard and of the opinion that people are out to get him. He stands up for himself because it’s what he’s learnt to do. He defensive and doesn’t take stick from anybody, but he’s also his own worst enemy. He’s terrified of lad culture and he’s too to express himself yet. He’s self-destructive. The house is his mind and he feels that it’s been infiltrated. He tries and tries to destroy the rodents that live there rent free, but in the end he discovers that the only way to truly get rid of them is to let them go.”
The Ignorance Is Bliss EP is the beginning of an exhilarating new phase for Frankie who relocated from his hometown of Sheffield to London last year. It captures a transformative time for the 23 year old singer songwriter, juggling two jobs with nocturnal sessions in the studio, the resulting songs reflecting themes of survival, self-discovery and determination.
During their sessions, Frankie and producer Josef Page would discuss what their ultimate band might sound like, landing on a mix of influences that includes Pulp, The Strokes, The Smiths and more. “We wanted to make what our new favourite band would sound like in 2024,” he says. “That was the goal.”
Over two previous EPs, the exuberant indie-pop of 2021’s Tasting The Sky and the fizzy grooves of 2023’s Caravan, Frankie has honed his way with an infectious melody around lyrical observations that pinball from poignant to playful, but the forthcoming Ignorance Is Bliss EP draws a line in the sand. It’s the sound of a thrilling creative dynamo making a great leap forward.
