Frances has just released not one, but two singles in the form of Ocean In Gold and Rare. The gentle piano-led Ocean In Gold, and the enchanting and ethereal Rare, will both appear on the singer-songwriter’s forthcoming highly anticipated album, Wonder. Frances has said of the two-track single, “These songs have always been a pair in my mind which is why I felt I had to release them both together. They’re both just about being totally in awe of somebody. I remember when the lyric ‘my love you’re worth the weight of the ocean in gold’ came into my mind, it actually brought a tear to my eye because I felt I’d finally summed up that feeling of awe. Weirdly, Rare was written about 5 years before Ocean In Gold, but it’s like it was always waiting for its partner and now they can finally be released together.” The tracks go hand in hand, perfectly complement each other, and can be heard here.
Frances recently announced the release of her sophomore album,Wonder. Consisting of eight tracks written, produced and performed entirely by the songstress, this triumphant album certainly proves Frances’ pop star prowess goes further than just her singing abilities. Frances has explained, “Wonder is the album I’ve always wanted to make but never knew how, until now. Writing and producing it myself and having that singular vision has been the most important part of the whole thing. It wasn’t made in an expensive studio, it was all made and recorded in my home and those circumstances allowed me to be totally fearless. It’s literally me, wrapped up in a body of work and that makes it scary but so special to release.” Wonder will be released on 9th April, and can be pre-ordered here.
Frances has started teasing a photo series called ‘Spaces’, celebrating the places and spaces in which she created her album in. They were taken by Harvey Pearson, and feature locations such as the singer’s local pub, her home studio and more. Frances will be sharing these photos throughout the run up to the release of Wonder, on her social media channels. Keeping her creative juices flowing during the current lockdown, Frances announced a competition for her fans to remix her latest single, Other Side Of The World. Hundreds of fans submitted remixes during the month of December, and the winner was announced last month.
